PRAISE GATHERING has its origins in a choir which came together in 1985 to sing the ‘Psalms Alive’ songs. At that time the invitation was given “to singers - skilled and unskilled, but with a heart for God to come and take part in this corporate act of Praise to our God.“

Over the years, many people have responded to that invitation and up to 325 singers from over 100 churches have taken part in concerts.

PRAISE GATHERING has recorded several albums for Kingsway, with 3 recently re-released as part of “The Praise Gathering Collection.“ Our latest album is Praise Gathering 07. The choir also took part in the first overseas recording for Integrity Music - “Amazing Love” with Graham Kendrick.

Other highlights include a presentation of “God with us” with Don Moen and several events in association with Mission Scotland.

One of the strengths of the choir has been the wide age-range of the singers. Though there is a lower age limit of 15, it has been wonderful to see 2 or even 3 generations of a family singing together. This age-range has then been reflected in our audiences.

The history of PRAISE GATHERING is therefore really a history of God at work in the lives of ordinary people who have experienced His love and forgiveness in their own lives. People who are discovering that praising and worshipping God with their voices and their lives is not something that comes naturally, but is something that has to be learned. People who, in learning to acclaim God, are discovering that, in doing so, they experience the joy of His presence every day!

Psalm 89 v. 15 “Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your presence, O Lord.“
